It all began in Oakhaven, Massachusetts, a coastal town omitted from modern maps but etched into 19th-century maritime ledgers. In 1891, the Bureau of Records & Anomalies was established within the narrow brick walls of the Blackwood Building.

While the rest of the country looked toward the future, the Bureau was tasked with archiving the things history was told to forget. For over a century, the Bureau functioned as a silent repository for these anomalies.
